Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Rubytee collects when you visit rubytee.com or buy a T-shirt from us, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. Rubytee is located at 6085 Hogan Dam Road, Valley Springs, CA 95252, United States, and is responsible for the personal information described here. If you have any question about your privacy, email support@rubytee.com.

Privacy at a glance

  • We collect only what we need to sell you shirts, deliver them and help you.
  • We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Card and payment details are handled by the payment provider shown at checkout, not stored by us.
  • You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time.
  • Questions go to support@rubytee.com, and we reply within 1 business day.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Information you give us

When you place an order, we collect your name, email address, billing address, shipping address, phone number if you choose to provide it, the shirts you ordered including design, size and color, and any note you add to the order, such as a gift message. If you create an account, we also store your login email and an encrypted password. When you email us or submit a support ticket, we keep the message, any photos you attach (for example, a photo of a print flaw) and our replies. If you leave a product review, we collect the review text, rating and the name you choose to display.

1.2 Information collected automatically

When you browse rubytee.com, our website and hosting services automatically record technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, the pages you view, the page that referred you and the date and time of each visit. Some of this comes from cookies and similar technologies, explained in section 5. Our servers also keep short-term security logs to protect the site from abuse.

1.3 Information from other parties

When you pay, the payment provider confirms to us whether the payment succeeded and may share limited details such as the payment type and the last four digits of a card. We never receive your full card number. Shipping carriers send us delivery status updates for your parcel, such as “in transit” or “delivered”, so we can keep you informed and handle delivery problems.

2. How we use your information

  • To fulfill your order: processing payment, preparing and shipping your shirts, sending order and shipping emails, and handling returns, exchanges and refunds.
  • To support you: answering questions, resolving delivery issues, and reviewing photo claims about damaged or incorrect items.
  • To keep the store safe: detecting and preventing fraud, abuse and security incidents.
  • To meet legal obligations: keeping tax, accounting and transaction records and responding to lawful requests.
  • To improve the store: understanding which pages are useful and fixing problems on the site.
  • To send marketing emails: only if you have agreed or the law allows it. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing never affects order emails.

We do not use your information to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you based solely on automated processing.

3. Legal bases for customers in certain regions

If you are located in a country whose laws require a legal basis for processing, such as the United Kingdom or a member state of the European Economic Area, we rely on: performing our contract with you (taking and delivering your order and supporting you), our legitimate interests (keeping the store secure, preventing fraud and improving our service), your consent (marketing emails and non-essential cookies, which you can withdraw at any time) and legal obligations (tax and accounting records). Although we only ship to the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, visitors from anywhere can browse the site, so we apply these principles to everyone.

4. How we share information

We share personal information only with the service providers who help us run the store, and only the information each one needs:

  • the payment provider that processes your payment at checkout;
  • shipping carriers that deliver your parcel, who receive your name, delivery address and, where required for delivery or customs, your phone number and email;
  • our website hosting, security and email service providers, who store and transmit data for us.

These providers may use the information only to provide their services to Rubytee. We may also disclose information when required by law or legal process, to protect the rights, property or safety of Rubytee, our customers or others, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger or sale of the business, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Rubytee uses essential cookies that make the store work: they remember the shirts in your cart, keep you signed in to your account, protect checkout from fraud and remember basic preferences. The store cannot function without them, so they do not require consent. We do not currently use advertising cookies. If we add analytics or advertising tools in the future, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before those cookies are set.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block essential cookies, your cart, account and checkout will not work properly.

6. How long we keep information

How long Rubytee keeps different types of information
Type of information Why we keep it How long
Order and payment records Tax, accounting and warranty obligations As long as tax and accounting law requires, typically several years
Account details So you can sign in and see past orders Until you ask us to delete the account
Support emails, tickets and claim photos Resolving your request and handling follow-ups As long as useful for the request, then deleted or anonymized
Marketing preferences Respecting your choice Until you unsubscribe; we keep a record of the opt-out
Server and security logs Protecting the site from abuse A short period, then automatically deleted

When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous so it can no longer be linked to you.

7. How we protect information

Every page of rubytee.com is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Access to customer information is limited to the people who need it to process orders and help customers. Payment details are entered into the payment provider’s secure systems and are not stored on our servers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work hard to protect your information, and if a security incident affects your personal information, we will notify you where the law requires.

8. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • know what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy;
  • correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information, subject to records we must keep by law;
  • receive your information in a portable format;
  • object to or restrict certain uses, and withdraw consent you have given;
  • opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising (we do neither).

To make a request, email support@rubytee.com from the email address linked to your order or account. To protect you, we may ask for information to verify your identity, such as an order number. We respond within the time required by applicable law, and we never discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may also contact the data protection authority in your country.

9. California privacy rights

Rubytee is based in California. If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, gives you specific rights over your personal information. In the past 12 months we have collected the categories described in section 1: identifiers (name, email, address, IP address), customer records (billing and shipping details), commercial information (the shirts you bought), internet activity (pages viewed on our site) and any content you send us, such as photos for a claim. We collect them for the business purposes described in section 2 and disclose them only to the service providers listed in section 4. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not knowingly sell or share the information of anyone under 16. We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that would give you the right to limit its use. You may exercise your rights to know, delete and correct by emailing us, and you may use an authorized agent with your written permission. Under California’s “Shine the Light” law, you may also ask whether we have shared personal information with third parties for their direct marketing; we have not. Full details and how to submit a request are in our California Privacy Rights notice.

10. Children’s privacy

Rubytee is not directed to children under 13, or under 16 where local law sets a higher age, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Orders must be placed by an adult. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. International visitors

Rubytee is based in the United States and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. If you are visiting from Canada, Australia, New Zealand or elsewhere, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where the law requires, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our practices, our service providers or the law change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. If we make a material change, we will post a notice on the site or email customers before the change takes effect.
