Payment Methods

Last updated:

This page explains how paying for a Rubytee order works: where you see the payment options, when you are charged, which currency you pay in, how your payment details are protected and what to do if a payment does not go through. The payment methods available for your order are always listed on the checkout page before you confirm anything, so you can see exactly how you can pay before you commit.

Payments at a glance

  • Where to see options: the available payment methods are shown at checkout, before you pay.
  • Currency: all prices and charges are in US dollars (USD).
  • Shipping: free to the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, so the total is the item price plus any applicable tax.
  • Security: payments are handled by a secure payment provider; Rubytee never sees or stores your full card number.
  • Refunds: approved refunds are processed to your original payment method within 7 calendar days.

1. How you can pay

When you reach the checkout page, you will see the payment methods that are currently available for your order. Only methods that are working and connected to our store are displayed there, and you choose one before you place the order. The checkout page is the authoritative list: if a payment method is not shown at checkout, we are not able to accept it for that order.

We do not take payment by email, over the phone, by text message, in cash or by direct bank transfer outside the checkout. No one from Rubytee will ever ask you to pay outside the checkout page or to send money to a personal account. If you receive a request like that, do not pay it, and forward the message to support@rubytee.com.

2. What you pay

Your order total is made up of the price of the shirts in your cart and any sales tax that applies to your delivery address. Shipping to the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand is free, so there is no shipping charge on the order. Before you confirm, the checkout shows a full breakdown: each shirt with its size and color, the subtotal, the shipping line at $0.00, any discount you applied, any tax and the final total. What you see there is what you are charged.

Orders delivered outside the United States may be charged import duties or taxes by the destination country when the parcel arrives. Those charges are not part of the payment you make to Rubytee and are collected by the carrier or customs authority. Our Shipping & Delivery page explains this in more detail.

3. Currency and exchange rates

Prices on rubytee.com are listed and charged in US dollars. If you live in Canada, Australia or New Zealand, or if your card is issued in a currency other than US dollars, your bank or payment provider converts the amount into your currency. The exchange rate and any foreign transaction fee are set by your bank or provider, not by Rubytee, so the amount on your statement may differ slightly from a conversion you do yourself. If you want to know the exact amount in your own currency, check with your bank before you pay.

The same applies in reverse for refunds: we refund the original US dollar amount, and your bank converts it back at the rate on the day the refund arrives, which can be slightly different from the rate on the day you paid.

4. When you are charged

Your payment is taken when you place your order. You receive an order confirmation email straight away, with the order number and the amount paid. If an item becomes unavailable, or if you cancel within our cancellation window before the order ships, we refund the relevant amount to your original payment method within 7 calendar days of confirming the change. See Cancel or Change an Order.

5. How your payment is protected

Every page on rubytee.com, including checkout, uses an encrypted HTTPS connection; you can see the padlock symbol in your browser’s address bar. Payment details are entered into, or passed directly to, our payment provider’s secure systems. Rubytee does not receive or store your full card number or security code. Depending on your card issuer, you may be asked to confirm a payment with an extra security step, such as a one-time code or a confirmation in your banking app. That step comes from your bank and helps protect you from fraud.

6. If your payment is declined

A payment can be declined for several reasons: the billing address does not match the address your bank has on file, the card has expired, there are insufficient funds or credit available, or your bank has flagged the payment as unusual, which can happen with international purchases. If your payment is declined:

  1. Check that the card number, expiry date, security code and billing address are entered correctly.
  2. Try again, or choose a different payment method if more than one is available at checkout.
  3. If it still does not work, contact your bank or payment provider. They can tell you why the payment was declined and approve it if appropriate.

Your order is only created once a payment succeeds, so a declined attempt does not create an order and does not charge you. Some banks show a temporary pending amount for a declined attempt; it disappears on its own, usually within a few business days.

7. Duplicate charges

If you believe you were charged twice for the same order, email us with your order number and both transaction references from your statement. If a duplicate charge is confirmed, we refund it within 7 calendar days. Before contacting us, check whether one of the amounts is a temporary pending authorization; these drop off automatically.

8. Order verification

To protect customers from fraud, we may occasionally ask you to confirm an order before we ship it, for example when the billing and delivery addresses are in different countries. We will contact you by email from support@rubytee.com and will only ask for information about the order itself. We will never ask for your full card number, security code or password. If we cannot verify an order, we cancel it and refund it in full.

9. Taxes

Where sales tax applies to your order, it is calculated from your delivery address and shown at checkout before you pay. Prices displayed on product pages do not include tax that is added at checkout. Import taxes charged by Canada, Australia or New Zealand on arrival are separate, as explained in section 2.

10. Discount codes and store credit

If you have a valid discount code, enter it in the coupon field at checkout; the discount appears in the order summary before you pay. Store credit issued for a return can be applied to a new order by our team or as a code. Promotions follow the terms published with them and our Terms of Service.

11. Refunds

Approved refunds go back to the payment method you used for the order and are processed within 7 calendar days of approval. If you prefer, we can issue store credit instead. Our Refund Policy explains when refunds are approved and how much is refunded in each situation.

12. Business and group purchases

Ordering matching shirts for a team, event or workplace? You can pay for a group order through the normal checkout like any other order. If you need an itemized receipt or invoice with your organization’s name for reimbursement, email us after placing the order and we will send one for the amount paid.

13. Keep your details safe

We will never ask for your card number, security code, banking password or one-time codes by email, chat or phone. Never include payment details in a support message or ticket. If you receive a message that claims to be from Rubytee and asks for payment details, do not reply; forward it to support@rubytee.com so we can warn other customers.

14. Checkout, step by step

  1. Review your cart. Check every shirt’s design, size and color, and the quantity. This is the easiest moment to fix a mistake.
  2. Enter your contact and delivery details. Use an email address you check regularly; your confirmation, shipping and tracking emails go there. Make sure the delivery address is in the United States, Canada, Australia or New Zealand.
  3. Confirm shipping. Free Shipping is selected automatically for addresses in our four destination countries and shows $0.00.
  4. Apply a discount code if you have one. The discount appears in the order summary immediately.
  5. Choose a payment method. Pick one of the methods listed on the checkout page and complete any security step your bank asks for.
  6. Place the order. You see an order received page and get a confirmation email with your order number within a few minutes.

If the confirmation email does not arrive within an hour, check your spam or promotions folder, then contact us with the name and email address you used. We can confirm whether the order went through without you needing to try again, which avoids accidental duplicate orders.

15. Payment questions we hear often

Can I pay in Canadian, Australian or New Zealand dollars?

Our prices and charges are in US dollars. Your bank converts the amount to your currency, as described in section 3.

Is it safe to buy from Rubytee?

Yes. The site is encrypted, payments are processed by a secure payment provider, and we never store full card numbers. If anything about a payment looks wrong, contact us and we will check it with you.

Can someone else pay for my order?

Yes. The billing details belong to the person paying, and the delivery address can be yours. This is common for gifts.

Why does my bank show a different merchant name?

Some payment providers show their own name, or a shortened version of ours, on bank statements. If you do not recognize a charge, compare the amount and date with your order confirmation, or email us and we will help identify it.

16. Changes to payment options

The payment methods we offer may change over time as we add new options or as providers change their services. Any change is reflected on the checkout page first, and this page is updated to match. Orders already placed are never affected by a later change: the method you paid with is the one we refund to, and your order total stays exactly as confirmed in your order email. If you have a preferred way to pay that you do not see at checkout, tell us; customer feedback helps us decide which options to add next.
